1. Using Catches.co.za responsibly
This website is provided for anglers, club buyers and customers looking for fishing tackle, rods, reels, terminal tackle and bait for use in South Africa. You may browse the site and submit enquiries for Durban, Springfield Park, Umhlanga, Ballito, Pietermaritzburg, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Gqeberha and East London orders, provided you use the site lawfully and do not interfere with its operation.
You must not use the website to upload harmful code, attempt unauthorised access, scrape product data at scale, or misrepresent your identity when making an enquiry. We may restrict access where we believe a user has acted improperly, or where system security, municipal compliance or order handling is affected.
- Use the site only for lawful fishing and retail related purposes
- Do not interfere with security, forms or technical functions
- Do not copy site content for resale or misleading use
2. Product information, stock and availability
We aim to describe tackle, bait and accessory items as accurately as possible, including sizes, line classes, components and suitable use for coastal or freshwater fishing. Stock levels can change quickly, especially during peak holiday periods, weekend bait runs and before long weekends on the KZN coast. An item shown on the site is not a guarantee of immediate availability unless confirmed by our team.
Images, colours and product descriptions are provided to help you choose suitable gear. Small differences can occur between batches, and some items may vary slightly due to supplier changes, packaging updates or product updates. If a product is unavailable, we may offer a suitable alternative, hold the order, or cancel the item and refund the relevant amount.
- Availability is confirmed only when our team processes your enquiry or order
- Minor variations in colour, packaging or finish may occur
- We may correct errors in descriptions, pricing or stock status
3. Ordering, pricing and payment terms
Prices are shown in South African Rand unless stated otherwise and may change without notice. We reserve the right to correct pricing errors, and if a clear error is discovered before fulfilment we may contact you before proceeding. Orders are processed after payment confirmation or after any agreed payment method has been accepted.
Where an order is placed for delivery or collection, the final cost may include courier fees, special packing, or other charges linked to the size and nature of the goods. For bulk club orders, starter setups, rig advice or other custom requests, the final quote will reflect the parts and labour required. If payment does not clear, the order will not be released.
- All prices are subject to change until confirmed
- Extra charges may apply for special handling or courier delivery
- Payment must be completed before release unless otherwise agreed in writing
4. Repairs, servicing and technical work
Services such as reel servicing, reel repairs, line spooling, rod guide replacement, rod tip repair, drag tuning, trace making, starter setup and trip gear checks are provided with reasonable care and skill. Service outcomes depend on the condition of the equipment when received and on any parts that may need replacement. Coastal humidity, sand, salt water and poor storage can affect performance, especially in Durban and other coastal areas.
If you request technical work, you confirm that the item is yours or that you have authority to submit it for service. We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, hidden defects, or wear that becomes visible during inspection. Where a quote changes after a check, we will explain the reason before continuing. Parts replaced during repair may not be returned unless agreed in advance.
- Service work is assessed on the condition of the item on intake
- Additional repairs may be required once the item is opened or tested
- Customer approval may be requested before extra work proceeds
5. Delivery, collection and risk
Where goods are delivered, risk passes in line with the agreed delivery method and once the goods are handed over to the courier or collected by you, unless a different arrangement has been confirmed in writing. You are responsible for checking the parcel on arrival and reporting visible damage or missing items promptly. Please keep the packaging and any damaged parts for assessment if a claim is needed.
Collection times, delivery cut-offs and service turnaround periods may vary during load-shedding, extreme weather, public holidays or busy trade periods. We will use reasonable efforts to meet quoted timeframes but cannot guarantee exact timing in every case. A missed collection or delayed courier due to circumstances outside our control does not create liability on our side.
6. Consumer rights, liability and limits
Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude rights that cannot be excluded under South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act where it applies. If a product is faulty or a service is not rendered as agreed, your remedy will depend on the facts, the law and the applicable warranty or supplier process. We may ask for proof of purchase, photographs or an inspection before resolving a complaint.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of fishing time, loss of catch, missed trips, or damage caused by improper use, incorrect installation, lack of maintenance, corrosion, or unauthorised modification. Our total liability for a claim will not exceed the amount paid for the specific product or service giving rise to the claim.
- Your statutory rights remain in place where they cannot be limited
- Claims may require proof, inspection or supplier verification
- We are not liable for losses caused by misuse or neglect
7. Contact, governing law and updates
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute should first be raised through our enquiry form so it can be reviewed by the appropriate team member. For product matters, the relevant contact may include our Store Operations Manager, Coastal Tackle Specialist, Freshwater Gear Advisor, Bait and Stock Controller or Rod and Reel Technician, depending on the issue.
We may amend these terms from time to time to reflect legal changes, operational needs or updated service arrangements. The version published on the website at the time of your use will apply. If you do not agree with any updated term, you should stop using the site and avoid placing further orders. These terms should be read together with any applicable privacy notice, returns process and service agreement.
